DRAFTING BLOUSE WITH FLAT COLLAR

Measurements Needed:

1.      Shoulder measure

2.     Bust measure

3.     Waist measure

4.     Hip measure

5.     Figure measure/FBL

6.     Blouse length

7.     Sleeve length

8.     Apex height

9.   Apex distance

A. PROCEDURES FOR FRONT PATTERN

1.      A-B =5- 6 inches, then shape with hip curve or ruler

2.     A-C = Full Bodice Length or Figure measure

3.     A-D = Blouse length

4.     D-D1 = 1 inch downward,

5.     D1-L = shape with Hip curve

6.     A-E =2 ¾ to 3 inches

7.     A-F = ½ shoulder  measure

8.     7. F-G = 1 ½ inches downward

9.     G-H = ½ shoulder measure, draw horizontal

line from point H to get point I

10.   I-J = ¼ bust measure plus ½ inch,

G- J- shape with French curve

11.     C-K = ¼ waist measure plus 1 inch for dart

12.    D-L = ¼ hip measure plus ½ inch

13.    J-K-L = shape with hip curve

14.    C-M = ½ apex distance

15.   M-R, M-Q = ½ inch both sides

16.    E-N = apex height plus 1 inch

17.    E-P = ½ inch downward

G-O = ¾ inch downward

19.    B-B1, D-D2 = 1 inch for overlap

B. DRAFTING BACK PATTERN

NOTE: The same at the front

        except for the following:

1.    A-B = ½ inch downward

2.   E-P = ½ inch upward

3.   E-N = apex height minus 1 inch

4.   No more D-D1, B-B1 and D-D2

5.   I-J = ¼ bust measure only

C. DRAFTING THE SLEEVE PATTERN

1.    A-B = 3 ½  to 4 inches

2.   A-C = Sleeve length

3.   C-C1 = 1 ½ inches for folding

4.  D-E= Draw a line

5.   B-D = ½ shoulder measure

6.   C-E =  ½ sleeve circumference

7.   F = center of point A& D

8.   G = center of point A & F

9.   H = center of point F & D

10.I = 1 inch following the line

11. G- J = ½ inch upward

12.H-K = ¼ inch downward

13.G- L = ¾ inch upward (for back)

14. Shape A-J-F-K-D  (for front)

15.Shape A-L-I-D (for back, use brokenlines)

D. DRAFTING THE COLLAR

1.    A-B = 3 inches downward

2.  A- C = ½ neck measure

To get the neck measure, measure the

neckline of the front and back of the

blouse then divide by two.

3.  B-D = A-C

4.  B1-B = ½ inch upward

5.  B1- D = shape with french curve 

7.  C-C1 = ½ inch or more outward

STEPS IN ASSEMBLING THE BLOUSE
1. Edge stitches the raw edges.
2. Sew the darts.
3. Join the shoulder seams.
4. Join the side seams.
5. Prepare and attach the collar.
6. Prepare and attach the sleeves.
7. Hem the bottom part.
8. Locate and make buttonholes then attach the buttons.
9. Cut the hanging threads then press.
